Simona Halep o va întâlni sâmbătă, în turul 3 (R32) al “Australian Open 2020” – pentru prima oară în carieră – pe Yulia Putintseva (Kazahstan, 38, clasament maxim: 27 WTA / februarie 2017, 25 de ani), care a eliminat-o astăzi pe Danielle Collins (SUA, 25) [26]: 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 în 2h36′, după ce kazaha a ratat la 5-4, când servea, o minge de meci, a fost egalată, dar în ultimele două jocuri nu a mai pierdut decât un punct.
Învingătoarea va juca în optimile de finală (R16) cu cea din partida Elise Mertens (Belgia, 17) [16] – Catherine Bellis (SUA, 600, clasament protejat: 43 WTA).
